This was our last full day on the Pere Marquette Rail Trail, and we had it to ourselves almost the entire day. We enjoyed seeing the fog at sunrise, and although we didn’t get to explore Reed City, we learned that it used to serve as the junction of two railroads — and now two rail trails cross paths in downtown Reed City: the Pere Marquette and the White Pine Trail.
We had a great lunch at the Chase Creek Smokehouse in Chase — and then, while hunting down a convenience store, we discovered something fun about some of the town’s street names.
Tomorrow we are back on the road. US Route 10 goes all the way into Ludington, but we’ll see if we can find a backroad that’ll take us at least part of the way.
