Day 52: Ludington, MI to Manitowoc, WI

This? This is the image YouTube selected to represent an entire vlog? Hey everybody! Kick back, relax! Algorithms got nothin’ on us.

Today we crossed Lake Michigan on the S.S. Badger: the last coal-fired passenger steamship operating in the United States. To me, the journey was very exciting! But then, I’m the kind of guy who enjoys standing in the bow of a ship, staring at the horizon for hours on end.

Oh, yes — I filmed it all. But I won’t make you watch it 🙂

At the 3:45 mark, I change course to answer a question from a vlog watcher: what items do I carry in my pack? After reviewing the contents, I have a little fun with a speeded-up demonstration of what it’s like to pack up in the morning.

For anyone who wants a behind-the-scenes look at how the S.S. Badger operates, I highly recommend this video:

Happy solstice, y’all!

You’re darn cute on that ferry ride.
How much does your pack weigh?

No idea, really. I’m guessing 15-20 pounds without food or water. That will increase as I get further west and the towns get more spread out.
