Day 85: Fort Thompson to Vivian, SD

Long journeys are full of surprises. Unexpected events can take you by storm at any moment. Or things you thought might happen come about so fast, you find yourself scrambling to respond.

Today began with some bad news from back home. By lunchtime, the worst had happened. So unfortunately, this will be the last vlog for a while. I need to put this walking tour aside and return home to support my family.

This is not the way it was supposed to end. But family comes first.

Thank you all for following along. Sorry I couldn’t take you further.

Love to you all – this journey had been extraordinary and I know you’ll return to it someday. Looking forward to it. Until then, I’ve started reading your book (started by reading out loud, to friends, on the beach!) and look forward to what tales this journey will inspire next.

You have taken us so far and given us so many gifts already! An adventure we would never have had without you. It’s been a great pleasure to see the country with you and through your eyes.

Sorry for your loss. Thanks so much for the adventure and the vicarious thrills. Traveling under your own steam sure helps one to appreciate what a big place this country is. I am sorry we won’t get to see how the countryside changes as you get beyond the plains. All the best to you ad your family.
